What to buy first?

Like many others out there, you seem to have found yourself stuck wondering what parts or pieces to buy first. Does it even matter what you buy first? Let’s talk about and find out.
In this discussion we will not break down each component functions instead, will look at three areas you could potentially start at.
These areas are the “car (chassis) kit”, the “electronics”, and the “remote” all these items are purchases you can make to start the journey of creating a R/C build.
The “car kit”, typically this is the “go to” place to start your build and for good reason. The car kit usually includes a motor and possibly an ESC which is already a step ahead in terms of order of purchase. With the car kit you can completely build your car, everything from the wheels to the chassis see J-Toy Autoworks “TT01 Build video” as an example of how far a car kit will get you (link below). Keep in mind that there is RTR options available as well. RTR is most commonly known as Ready-to-Run, in some circles it can mean Ready-to-Race. The big take here is that once you purchase your RTR car kit your finished. These kits supply you with the remote, battery, all necessary electronics pre-installed onto a fully built chassis.
The “electronics”, while this is a place to start your build its not a common as the car kit. Let’s take a second to list the electronics, they are motor, ESC, servo, and battery. There may be a specific reason you need to source the electronics first such as performance, specs or limitations, and customization requirements for fully custom build. You would be fine starting with electronics, however, be sure to get a chassis that supports them when you’re finished.
The last place to begin is the “remote”. The remote transmitter is critical to your build as it controls all the functions your car is capable of. This is not a common starting point; however, it is an intriguing one. The remote transmitter also comes with a remote receiver which will have to be installed on the car along with the “electronics”. The reason you may be looking to start here is if your paying close attention to the number of remote channels and tuning capabilities. Remote capabilities vary so be sure to select one that will support your future build.
Overall, it's fine to start wherever you feel comfortable. It's your build so take your time and have fun.
As always, I would love to hear if you tried R/C before, are just starting out, or maybe you decided to dust of the old car for one more run!
