Sometimes the purchase of an RC car leaves something to be desired. In most cases this is because the car is not fast, has poor range, and absolutely no upgrade path. If this sounds like a situation you are in or have experienced than it's likely that your RC is Toy grade quality.
Toy grade RC's

Toy grade RC's are usually found at your local stores. They are readily available to the public and are relatively cheap. The availability comes easy since they are often sold at Walmart, Target, other shopping store and in some cases grocery stores. The cheap means that they are built at a price point to keep cost down to the consumer however that limits capability. There is a place for toy grade RC cars, in my opinion they are great on the shelf pieces or for young children. With that in mind let's take a look at another option, this is for someone who was not satisfied with the toy grade offerings and is looking for more.
Hobby grade RC's

Hobby grade RC's are made with the enthusiasts in mind. They offer the ability to be built from the ground up. As an example many of the hobby grade cars can be purchased as "Kits" where you assemble every part In order for it to run or as "RTR" where it comes professionally assembled and ready for use. Hobby grade also offers the ability to customize or tune your car for your specific use.
As you can see in this brief overview the versatility between Toy grade and Hobby grade is large.

Be sure to check with the individual your buying for hints on what they plan on using the RC for. That could make a key difference in what they are expecting and the results of the gift! If your shopping for yourself be sure to look out for customizable options and specific brands to identify which RC is for you.
Thank you all for reading and I'll be back soon with another overview and information on future racing entertainment solutions.
As always, I would love to hear if you tried R/C before, are just starting out, or maybe you decided to dust of the old car for one more run!
